In Term 2, the focus is on creative exploration and self-expression. You are invited to choose a subject that inspires you or immerse yourself in creating a composition using colour palettes as inspiration. Using acrylics on watercolour paper or canvas, we will experiment with a range of approaches including underpainting, blocking negative space, and observing, selecting and mixing colours.

What to Bring:

You are asked to bring a colour image with the colours that inspire you, where you will select a limited colour palette and paint a new composition using the selected different colour palette.

Throughout the workshops, you’ll:

·  Study your inspirational source image and select a colour palette

·  Experiment with applying paint in layers to create depth and vibrancy

·  Use negative space to reveal unexpected shapes, patterns, and colour contrasts

·  Explore colour mixing to strengthen your understanding of hue and harmony

·  Experiment with composition to unlock new ways of building engaging artworks.

This process may lead to a major painting composition or the beginnings of a series of works. You can draw inspiration from other artists who have explored these methods or develop your own personal symbolism and visual language.

For those who prefer a more independent approach, you also have the option to work on a Personal Painting Project with tailored guidance to support your creative journey.
